Scope and Sequence
Jubilee English 11-12: AP English Literature
AP English Literature will prepare homeschool students to take the AP English Literature test. A sample test will be included, and may be given at the end of the course. Appropriate texts will be thoroughly examined, allowing homeschool students to recognize different approaches to style. The ability to properly interpret literary symbolism will also be emphasized. At the beginning of the course, the lesson plans will introduce students to the elements of poetry, as well as literary approaches to poetic meaning. Subsequent studies will focus on reading for maximum meaning. A variety of approaches for dissecting a novel are offered for homeschool instructors to present to students. After these skills have been mastered, students will delve into short fiction, drama and novels.
